She Was Parked in a Driveway. She Blew a 0.00. She Was Still Arrested for DUI.
Florida
On August 31, 2024, Juliana Leggett pulled into a driveway to get directions after dropping off a friend.
Deputy Mraz of the Seminole County Sheriff’s Department arrested her for DUI, stating there was a “strong odor of alcohol.”
But a search of Juliana’s vehicle found no alcohol, and her breathalyzer test registered 0.00.
Juliana was still arrested.

Whether it is policies that encourage DUI arrests without enough evidence, or a lack of accountability for law enforcement officers when they misuse their authority, government overreach and abuse is demonstrated by sober DUI arrests across the country.
When government uses its power to take away someone’s freedom without good reason, it can profoundly affect that person’s life and ability to live safely, peacefully, and on their own terms.
Our Demand
End policies that encourage DUI arrests without sufficient evidence, and hold law enforcement officers accountable when they misuse their authority.
Juliana chose to share her experience so others don’t have to go through what she did.
