REUNITING THE Clarke Family
Damani and Shelby Clarke are the parents of two beautiful children.
They are also clients of You Are The Power who were falsely accused of abusing their oldest daughter, who has a diagnosed medical condition with symptoms that mimic abuse. As a result, she was seized and has been in state custody for two years.
Shelby is an active-duty service member stationed in southeast Georgia. Two law enforcement agencies investigated both her and her husband. One local and the other federal ultimately cleared them of any wrongdoing; no crime was committed. This is a case of medical misdiagnosis by a child abuse pediatrician that resulted in the fracturing of another factually innocent family.
Georgia’s Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) seized their oldest daughter and has refused to reunite the family, filing an order to terminate parental rights. That hearing is scheduled for next month. Compounding the situation, the juvenile court judge overseeing the case, who has been on the bench for decades, maintains one of the state’s lowest reunification rates on record. He sides with DFCS in nearly 75% of cases.
In March, 2025 they welcomed their second daughter into the world. She is happy, healthy, and beautiful. DFCS, just days after the baby was born, petitioned and received an order to seize their newborn and moved her hours away from her parents.
The seizure of the newborn baby might have been a violation of DFCS policy (PAMMS 9.5) and possibly Georgia law (OCGA 15-11-202); no reasonable effort was made to preserve the family or prevent placing the baby into foster care when it was well-documented that the department itself initiated removal proceedings. And it is, most importantly, a matter of immoral government overreach. The baby was not in imminent danger.
After 764 Days, Anariah is Finally Home.
Damani and Shelby Clarke have finally been reunited with their daughter, Anariah.
