Stop Eminent Domain Expansion in Union, KY

For 50+ years, families have called Frogtown Road home. Now, KYTC’s road expansion threatens to take it all away.
For over 50 years, families have built their lives along Frogtown Road in Union, Kentucky. Now, many of them are facing the unthinkable — the forced loss of their homes under the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s (KYTC) proposed Frogtown Road Expansion project.
The state plans to spend $80 million to widen a three-mile stretch of KY 3060. In the process, they intend to fully acquire at least 15 residential properties and seize portions of many others. This includes the longtime home of Ken and Sandra DeMaria, who’ve raised children and grandchildren on Frogtown Road and planted every tree in their yard with their own hands.
The project is being sold to the public as a “safety” improvement. But the facts tell a different story.
No traffic study has been presented to support the safety claims.
According to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, there has not been a single fatality on Frogtown Road in over 20 years, and no serious injuries that required an investigation.
Residents have been left in the dark.
They’ve received conflicting information, no clear answers, and no meaningful opportunity to shape the outcome, even as the threat of eminent domain looms over their homes.
Displacing families for development is not progress. It’s injustice.
Public infrastructure should serve the people, not remove them. The residents of Frogtown deserve to be heard, respected, and protected.
