Vetting Teams
You Are The Power maintains unwavering quality standards and has strict cause acceptance criteria. We are assisted by two volunteer vetting teams whose members spend hundreds of hours processing, researching, and investigating applications for assistance.
The two vetting teams are divided by their caseloads. One assists with the Family Reunification Program, and the other, the National Vetting Team, assists with the Freedom Fund, Charity Defense, and Civil Liberties.
The Family Reunification Program Vetting Team

Kaylee Doss
Parent Advocate
Kaylee is a mother and a strong believer in the power of truth and justice. Kaylee’s journey into parental advocacy began with her personal and painful experience of fighting to protect her daughter, Rowan, from a family policing system that was quick to judge and slow to listen.
What happened to Kaylee’s family exposed a much bigger issue: how easily families can be torn apart by false abuse accusations in a corrupt system that lacks accountability, compassion, and due process. Instead of letting injustice defeat her, she used it as motivation to stand up, speak out, and fight for those who felt silenced and powerless.
Kaylee committed herself to her role with You Are The Power, helping parents and children impacted by government overreach. She believes every family is entitled to due process, should be heard, and no parent should have to fight alone.

Dr. Glenn Brown
Dr. Brown is a board-certified anesthesiologist and owner of Lakeshore Anesthesia, with over two decades of clinical experience and medical leadership. A graduate of Upstate Medical School in Syracuse, Dr. Brown completed his training at the University of Florida, where he served as Chief Resident in Anesthesiology. His career has been defined by a commitment to precision, safety, and calm under pressure—qualities essential in the high-stakes environment of surgery. Currently certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Basic Life Support through 2026, Dr. Brown holds active licenses in Florida and Tennessee, ensuring his medical expertise remains current and widely applicable.
In his volunteer role, Dr. Brown offers a unique blend of analytical rigor and compassionate care to families navigating wrongful separation. His background in anesthesiology has honed his ability to assess complex situations quickly, manage crises with steady focus, and advocate effectively for those who cannot advocate for themselves. Having served as Chairman of the Medical Executive Committee at Lakeside Medical Center, he brings strong administrative and leadership skills to the reunification process.

Lynne Byler
Lynne holds a degree in Early Childhood Education and has dedicated her career to nonprofit work. She has served as Executive Director of a local youth sports league and has worked in elementary schools, always championing children and creating safe, supportive environments for them to grow.
Lynne’s understanding of the child welfare system shifted when she temporarily became a kinship provider for her nephew after he was wrongly diagnosed with non-accidental trauma. That experience deepened her commitment to standing alongside families as they navigate fear, confusion, and the complexities of child welfare.
She continues to draw on her experience, resilience, and compassion to support children and the families who care for them.

Samantha O'Donnell
Samantha’s interest in reforming the criminal justice and child welfare systems began while she was earning her bachelor’s degree in Sociology at the University of Missouri–Columbia. When her own family was harmed by these systems, she turned that knowledge into advocacy. Today, she focuses on helping families falsely accused of child abuse and on changing the policies that allow these injustices to continue. Samantha is committed to protecting vulnerable families rather than powerful institutions. She’s passionate about systemic reform so that innocent families aren’t forced into costly, lengthy battles to prove their innocence, while government systems – armed with unlimited resources, power, and public funding – can make accusations with little evidence and face virtually no accountability when they’re wrong.

Laurie Snell
Laurie is an attorney who has spent nearly 30 years in private practice, representing parents in family court as a contract attorney for many local law firms and legal departments. She is a graduate of UMKC School of Law and, after graduation, served as an Attorney for Juvenile Officer. She is active in all the local bar associations and in the ABA, where she served as past Chair of the Children & the Law Committee, ABA/YLD. She was one of NCJFCJ’s 2021 Impact of the Year winners for her work (along with the other Pro Bono Attorneys), and she was named an ABA Center for Children in the Law Reunification Hero for 2023. Laurie is the founder and host of the Truman Day CLE, which educates family court advocates on current issues and concerns.
